When markets & economy in general is flat and not booming, the number of job opportunities may be relatively low.
Also as the seniority increases, these number become even more rare. That does not mean there is no hiring.
You may have observed that there are many people who are still changing jobs, moving from one company to another.
How do they manage it? Some may have a “Spray and Pray” strategy.
They go about tapping all channels – exploring advertisements, contacting people in their networks, executive search firms etc. in a frenzy and expect something will click.
Sometime this works. But not always.
And when this does not work, you stand to loose a lot….You loose your confidence. Your desperation of tapping everyone in your networks may not work in favor of your brand.
Some people approach this as a “Strategic Leadership Job Search”. They invest time in planning the ideal jobs to search, prepare their search strategies. Stay motivated. Work with Job search coaches as their Accountability partners, etc.
Different people use different methods.
Key Question for you:
What would you do differently for your next Job Search. How does a “strategic” Job search look like for you?
